Disney’s BoardWalk Resort will temporarily close its Village Green courtyard beginning Aug. 10 as refurbishment work continues across select areas of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Disney’s BoardWalk Villas. The lawn is scheduled to remain unavailable through Sept. 4, 2026, affecting several recreation offerings normally held in the central outdoor space.
The closure will not eliminate those activities altogether. Movie Under the Stars screenings, yoga sessions, crafts and other scheduled programs will move to different locations around the resort while crews work in the courtyard. Disney has not published a complete list of the temporary venues, so guests should consult the resort’s recreation schedule or speak with Cast Members after arrival.
Village Green sits between the BoardWalk’s hotel buildings and the waterfront promenade, making it a prominent gathering area for resort guests. Beyond organized activities, the open lawn provides a place to relax near Crescent Lake and is frequently used for casual recreation. Its monthlong closure will therefore be one of the more noticeable parts of the current refurbishment, even though the resort’s major amenities are expected to remain available.
The Village Green project is part of a wider refurbishment taking place in select areas of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn through late 2026. Disney advises that guests may see or hear construction during daytime hours. Dining, recreation and merchandise locations are expected to remain open in most cases, although temporary changes may occur as work moves through different sections of the property.
Disney has not announced precisely what will be changed on the Village Green or whether the work is primarily cosmetic, structural or related to landscaping. No permanent redesign of the courtyard has been revealed. For now, the confirmed impact is limited to the Aug. 10 through Sept. 4 closure and the relocation of activities traditionally hosted there.
Guests planning stays beyond 2026 should also be aware of a separate round of routine maintenance scheduled for early next year. From Jan. 11 through April 2027, Luna Park Pool, the Luna Park Crazy Play Area and the nearby Leaping Horse Libations pool bar will close. Disney says the Villas Pool and Inn Pool will remain available during that period, providing alternative swimming options for hotel guests.
The upcoming pool work is separate from the Village Green closure, but together the projects create an extended period of maintenance at the EPCOT-area resort. Guests may also face a brief Disney Skyliner interruption from Jan. 24 through Jan. 30, 2027, when the gondola system is scheduled for routine refurbishment. Complimentary bus transportation will be offered while the Skyliner is unavailable.
Inspired by turn-of-the-century Atlantic City and Coney Island, Disney’s BoardWalk combines hotel accommodations with waterfront dining, shopping and entertainment. The resort is within walking distance of both EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which makes it a popular choice for guests who prioritize convenient access to those parks.
For visitors arriving in August, the biggest practical change will be checking where familiar recreation activities have moved. With the BoardWalk promenade, restaurants, shops and most other resort amenities remaining accessible, the Village Green closure should have a focused impact. Still, guests who regularly use the lawn will want to account for the temporary loss of the courtyard until it is scheduled to reopen after Sept. 4.
