Vacation Fun – An Original Animated Short with Mickey & Minnie will temporarily close at Disney’s Hollywood Studios beginning Aug. 9, 2026. Walt Disney World has not announced a specific reopening date, saying only that the Mickey Shorts Theater presentation is planned to return later this year.
The closure affects the animated film shown inside the theater in the park’s Echo Lake area. Disney has not revealed whether any changes will be made to the show before it reopens. With no firm return date currently listed, guests visiting during the late summer and fall should check the My Disney Experience app or Walt Disney World’s official website for updated operating information.
Vacation Fun is a seated, indoor experience starring Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. The original short follows the pair as they revisit a collection of memorable vacations, combining animation created for the attraction with scenes from the modern Mickey Mouse shorts.
The presentation incorporates material from Panda-monium, Couples Sweaters, Potatoland, Croissant de Triomphe, Entombed, Dumb Luck, Al Rojo Vivo, Yodelburg and Outback at Ya!. Its fast-paced comedy and distinctive visual style connect the theater experience with the animated Mickey Mouse series that also inspired Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway elsewhere in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Guests can normally continue into a post-show area after watching the film. That space includes life-size settings based on the animated shorts, giving families and groups several vacation-themed photo opportunities. Disney’s closure notice does not separately address those photo locations, so their availability during the interruption has not been confirmed.
The timing coincides with a new Walt Disney World Annual Passholder offering at the same venue. Distribution of a Kermit the Frog Passholder magnet is scheduled to begin at Mickey Shorts Theater on Aug. 11 and continue through Sept. 24, while supplies last. Pickup will be available from park opening until park closing.
Eligible Passholders must be present and show their valid Annual Pass through an accepted method, along with a government-issued photo ID. Distribution is limited to one magnet per Passholder. The use of Mickey Shorts Theater as the pickup location means the building will continue serving guests even while its regular animated presentation is unavailable.
Mickey Shorts Theater opened March 4, 2020, replacing Star Wars: Path of the Jedi. Vacation Fun debuted that same day, alongside the opening of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at the Chinese Theatre. Together, the two experiences expanded Mickey and Minnie’s presence at the park through attractions built around the appearance and humor of Disney’s contemporary animated shorts.
Although Vacation Fun is not one of Hollywood Studios’ headlining rides, it provides a useful indoor break and has no height requirement. Its theater format also makes it an accessible option for families and guests looking for entertainment away from the Florida heat.
Disney continues to characterize the closure as temporary and plans to reopen the show before the end of 2026. Until a more precise date is announced, guests visiting after Aug. 9 should plan around its absence and monitor Disney’s official schedule for further updates.
