Frontier Trading Post

Frontier Trading Post is one of Magic Kingdom’s longest-running specialty shops and the primary destination for Disney pin collectors inside the park. Located in the heart of Frontierland, the store is designed as an Old West trading post, with a rustic stone-and-timber façade, shaded wooden porch, lantern-style fixtures, antler decorations, and vintage-style signage. Its weathered appearance gives the impression that the building has served generations of travelers passing through a frontier settlement. The shop is connected to the neighboring Frontier Mercantile storefront, creating a long, narrow retail space that feels appropriately different from the larger merchandise locations elsewhere in Magic Kingdom.

Frontier Trading Post has been part of Walt Disney World since 1971. In its earlier years, the store placed greater emphasis on merchandise that reinforced the surrounding land’s romanticized vision of the American frontier, including Western-themed gifts, hats, apparel, and souvenirs. Walt Disney World’s official description still references Western and Native American-inspired merchandise, although the shop’s modern identity is much more closely tied to Disney pin trading.

Today, the store carries a substantial selection of Disney pins, including character designs, attraction-themed releases, seasonal collections, mystery sets, limited-edition offerings, and accessories for displaying or wearing a collection. MagicBand+ designs and a rotating assortment of general souvenirs may also appear on the shelves, but pins remain the main attraction. Disney identifies Frontier Trading Post as one of the resort’s principal pin-shopping destinations, placing it alongside locations such as Disney’s Pin Traders at Disney Springs, Disney Traders at EPCOT, Discovery Trading Company at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Celebrity 5 & 10 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The store’s pin-trading activity gives it a more participatory atmosphere than the average gift shop. Guests can browse for new additions, trade eligible official Disney pins, and compare collections with other enthusiasts. Even visitors who do not actively collect pins may find the store worth exploring because its merchandise reflects attractions, characters, anniversaries, and seasonal events from across Walt Disney World.

Frontier Trading Post has endured while the surrounding waterfront has changed dramatically. The Rivers of America and Liberty Square Riverboat closed in 2025 as part of Magic Kingdom’s evolving Frontierland plans, but the shop remains a tangible link to the land’s original 1971 character. It is both a practical retail stop and a reminder of an earlier Magic Kingdom, when Frontierland was designed to feel like a complete Western town rather than simply a collection of attractions.
