Creations Shop is EPCOT’s flagship merchandise location, occupying a prominent position in the park’s World Celebration neighborhood. Open, bright, and unmistakably modern, the store is one of the clearest physical expressions of EPCOT’s multiyear transformation from the divided Future World layout into the World Celebration, World Discovery, and World Nature neighborhoods. Disney describes the shop as a sleek, light-filled retail environment with expansive glass walls, allowing sunlight and views of the surrounding landscaping to become part of the interior design.
The shop officially opened on September 15, 2021, replacing MouseGear as EPCOT’s primary retail destination. Its design represents a deliberate departure from MouseGear’s industrial “factory” aesthetic, which featured oversized gears, rivets, pipes, ducts, and playful mechanical details. Creations Shop is cleaner and more contemporary, using open sightlines, natural light, bold color accents, and modern display fixtures to create a more flexible environment for Disney apparel, accessories, toys, housewares, and EPCOT-specific merchandise.
Although the design is minimalist compared with its predecessor, the space is not devoid of Disney storytelling. Mickey Mouse serves as the shop’s creative anchor, appearing in large-scale murals and contemporary artistic interpretations throughout the building. Disney Imagineers also created a collection of 10 original Mickey sculptures for the store, reinforcing the idea that Creations Shop is intended to celebrate the creative process rather than simply function as a large gift shop. When the location debuted, it also featured the exclusive EPCOT Light & Color Collection, a merchandise line inspired by the park’s iconography and visual transformation.
The site has a much longer retail history. When EPCOT Center opened on October 1, 1982, this area was home to Centorium, a two-level store in CommuniCore East selling EPCOT souvenirs, electronics, artwork, and other merchandise. Centorium was reconfigured during preparations for the Millennium Celebration, and MouseGear opened in its place in September 1999. MouseGear closed in its original location on January 4, 2020, with a temporary version operating during the building’s renovation until Creations Shop arrived.
Today, Creations Shop is a practical stop for guests searching for EPCOT merchandise, seasonal collections, and general Walt Disney World souvenirs. Its streamlined design has never inspired the same nostalgia as MouseGear or Centorium, but that contrast is part of its historical importance. Creations Shop reflects the modern EPCOT: brighter, less cluttered, more flexible, and designed to balance subtle references to the park’s past with a forward-looking visual identity.
