La Hacienda de San Angel is a table-service restaurant in EPCOT’s Mexico pavilion, located along the World Showcase Lagoon with some of the pavilion’s best waterfront views. Unlike San Angel Inn Restaurante, which sits inside the pyramid under a perpetual twilight sky, La Hacienda offers a brighter, more open dining experience with large windows facing the lagoon. That setting gives it a very different personality: less mysterious and atmospheric than the indoor temple restaurant, but more relaxed, spacious, and scenic. Disney currently describes it as a waterfront retreat serving Mexican cuisine and premium margaritas for dinner.
The restaurant opened to guests in September 2010 alongside the remodeled La Cantina de San Angel, creating a two-part dining complex on the edge of the Mexico pavilion. The timing was fitting, as the grand opening coincided with the bicentennial of Mexico’s independence. La Hacienda gave the pavilion a second major sit-down option and helped expand Mexico’s dining identity beyond the long-established San Angel Inn inside the pyramid.
Its menu focuses on elevated, approachable Mexican dishes rather than simple theme-park Tex-Mex. Current dinner offerings include starters such as guacamole, flautas, queso fundido, and empanadas, along with entrées such as pescado del día, osso buco a la Mexicana, carne asada, and shareable parrillada platters. The margarita program is also a major part of the restaurant’s appeal, connecting it naturally to the pavilion’s broader reputation for tequila, cocktails, and festive dining.
Historically, La Hacienda represents EPCOT’s shift toward more polished, full-service World Showcase dining in the 2000s and 2010s. Rather than simply adding another counter-service location, Disney created a restaurant that takes advantage of one of EPCOT’s most valuable assets: the lagoon itself. For some guests, the restaurant’s prime evening draw is the possibility of dining near the water during the park’s nighttime spectacular, though views can vary by table and should not be treated as guaranteed.
Today, La Hacienda de San Angel remains a strong choice for guests who want a sit-down meal in EPCOT with good atmosphere, bolder flavors, and a less enclosed setting than San Angel Inn. It is not as visually iconic as dining beside the boat ride inside the pyramid, but it offers something equally valuable: a handsome, comfortable Mexican restaurant with lagoon views, shareable food, and a sense of place that fits World Showcase beautifully.
