Trout Pass Pool Bar was the former poolside bar at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, located near Silver Creek Springs Pool in the resort’s main recreation area. It served as the resort’s original casual outdoor drink stop, giving guests a convenient place to grab a beer, cocktail, frozen beverage, or light refreshment while relaxing by the pool, walking toward Bay Lake, or taking a break from the parks.
The location fit naturally into the Wilderness Lodge setting. Opened in 1994, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge was designed as an idealized tribute to the grand national park lodges of the American West, with rustic timber architecture, stonework, waterfalls, geyser-inspired features, wooded pathways, and a dramatic lobby that evokes the scale and romance of classic park lodges. Trout Pass extended that atmosphere outdoors. Even its name felt right for the resort, suggesting mountain streams, fishing lodges, and quiet waterside retreats.
Unlike a major restaurant, Trout Pass was intentionally simple. It was not trying to compete with Artist Point, Whispering Canyon Café, Roaring Fork, or Territory Lounge. Its purpose was convenience and atmosphere: a small bar near the pool where guests could stay in vacation mode without returning to the main building. For families spending an afternoon at Silver Creek Springs Pool, it added an adult-friendly amenity to the recreation area. For adults exploring the resort, it offered a low-key place to pause with a drink in one of Walt Disney World’s most relaxing hotel environments.
Historically, Trout Pass belonged to the original dining and recreation pattern of Wilderness Lodge before the resort’s major modern expansion. In 2017, the broader waterfront area changed significantly with the opening of Copper Creek Villas & Cabins and Geyser Point Bar & Grill, which introduced a more substantial open-air lounge and dining experience along Bay Lake. Trout Pass closed that same year, and its former space was transformed into Salon by the Springs.
Today, Trout Pass Pool Bar is remembered as a modest but well-placed part of the original Wilderness Lodge experience. It was never one of Walt Disney World’s famous bars, but it helped define the resort’s quieter side: rustic, shaded, poolside, and perfectly suited to a slow afternoon away from the crowds.
