The Electric Mayhem has barely settled into its new home at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and the band is already rewriting the set list.

Disney has announced the first holiday overlay for Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, beginning November 4, 2026 and continuing through January 6, 2027.
Its wonderfully Muppet-like official name is Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets: Obligatory Holiday Overlay.
This will be more substantial than simply replacing the attraction’s background music with Christmas songs.
Disney says the seasonal storyline will begin outside G-Force Records, where holiday music will play around the attraction’s giant guitar marquee.
Inside the recording studio, guests will find Dr. Teeth, Animal, Floyd Pepper, Janice, Zoot and Lips preparing for a holiday concert.
Their preparations will not go entirely according to plan.
Additional Muppet characters will appear as part of the seasonal storyline while the band tries to finish rehearsals and get to its concert on time.
Disney has also revealed three of the songs riders will be able to hear during the holiday version.
The Electric Mayhem will perform “Holiday Road” with Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear, “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” with Jennifer Hudson and “Silver Bells” with Cyndi Lauper.
Disney says the seasonal attraction will feature four holiday-inspired tracks, meaning one additional selection has not yet been identified in the published lineup.
That structure builds naturally on the attraction Disney opened earlier this year.
Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets replaced Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, which closed permanently in 2025 after more than a quarter century at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Disney retained the coaster itself and its signature launch while completely rebuilding the story around The Electric Mayhem.
Guests now enter G-Force Records while the band rehearses in Studio C.

One of the attraction’s most notable technological additions is Scooter, who became the first Muppet character represented as a full Audio-Animatronic figure.
Imagineers used motion-capture technology involving the physical Scooter Muppet to study his movement and translate those characteristics into the figure.
Scooter spends the preshow attempting to convince The Electric Mayhem that they need to stop rehearsing and head to their concert.
Guests ultimately board a Muppet Labs-created vehicle called the Lengthy Immediate Motion Object, naturally shortened to L.I.M.O., before launching into the ride.
The Christmas overlay builds on that existing setup rather than creating an unrelated seasonal story.
The band is still preparing for a show. Scooter is still attempting to keep things organized. The difference is that their latest gig happens to be a holiday spectacular.
That should allow Disney to transform multiple portions of the attraction without needing to fundamentally change its mechanics.
Seasonal attraction overlays have become increasingly common at Walt Disney World, although they vary enormously in complexity.
Jingle Cruise at Magic Kingdom alters Jungle Cruise with Christmas props, jokes and character backstories. Living with the Land receives extensive holiday lighting during EPCOT’s Festival of the Holidays. Space Mountain has also received special lighting and music during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
The Muppets overlay is notable because it will operate during regular park hours for more than two months.
Guests will not need a Disney Jollywood Nights ticket to experience it.
The November 4 start date also places the overlay ahead of the broader Walt Disney World Christmas season, allowing Hollywood Studios to begin its Muppet holiday celebration particularly early.
For fans of the original attraction, the seasonal transformation also demonstrates one advantage of Disney’s decision to retain Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster’s music-driven format during its Muppets conversion.
The Electric Mayhem can continually change its concert.
Less than a year after their Disney’s Hollywood Studios debut, that is exactly what they are doing.
From November 4 through January 6, G-Force Records is becoming a holiday recording studio, the coaster is getting four seasonal songs and The Electric Mayhem will discover whether Scooter can somehow get a Muppet rock band to a Christmas concert on time.
