Disney Enchantment Fireworks Show

Disney Enchantment is a fireworks and projection-mapping spectacular presented at Magic Kingdom. Originally created for Walt Disney World’s 50th-anniversary celebration, the show combines pyrotechnics, lasers, searchlights, music, and animated imagery projected across Cinderella Castle. Its most significant technical innovation was the extension of immersive projection effects beyond the castle and onto the façades of Main Street, U.S.A., allowing guests farther down the street to experience a more visually complete presentation.

The show is built around the idea that the magic associated with Disney stories can also be found within the audience. Its soundtrack moves through songs and scenes from films including Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Toy Story, Aladdin, Moana, Frozen II, Coco, and The Princess and the Frog. The production also introduced an original anthem, “You Are the Magic,” performed by Philip Lawrence and Kayla Alvarez. Tinker Bell makes a traditional flight from Cinderella Castle during the finale, reinforcing the show’s connection to earlier Magic Kingdom fireworks presentations.

Disney Enchantment debuted on October 1, 2021, replacing the popular Happily Ever After as Magic Kingdom’s primary nighttime spectacular. Although its technical presentation was impressive, the show received a mixed response from longtime fans. One common criticism was that a production created for Walt Disney World’s milestone anniversary included relatively little material connected directly to the resort’s history.

Disney addressed that concern in August 2022 by adding a new opening sequence. The expanded introduction incorporated archival footage of Walt Disney, Roy O. Disney’s opening-day dedication, references to classic Magic Kingdom attractions, and an appearance by Mickey Mouse. The addition gave the show a stronger historical foundation and a clearer relationship to the anniversary it had been created to celebrate.

Disney Enchantment ended its regular nightly run on April 2, 2023. Happily Ever After returned the following evening with its own new Main Street projections.

The show has not disappeared entirely. Disney Enchantment returned in 2024 as an exclusive offering during separately ticketed Disney After Hours events at Magic Kingdom. As of 2026, it continues to be presented on select After Hours nights through July 27, while Happily Ever After remains the park’s standard nighttime spectacular during regular operating hours.

Today, Disney Enchantment occupies an unusual place in Magic Kingdom history. It never eclipsed Happily Ever After in fan popularity, but its Main Street projections, anniversary-era imagery, and limited-event revival have given it a distinct legacy of its own.
