Toontown Farmer’s Market

Toontown Farmer’s Market was a small quick-service snack location in Magic Kingdom’s former Mickey’s Toontown Fair, positioned between Donald’s Boat and The Barnstormer at Goofy’s Wiseacre Farm. It was not a major restaurant, and it was never meant to be one. Instead, it functioned as the land’s practical refreshment stop: a modest, cartoon-styled market stand where families could pick up fruit, snacks, and lighter bites while spending time in Toontown’s play areas, character houses, and kid-focused attractions.

The location fit the land’s “country fair” identity nicely. Mickey’s Toontown Fair was presented as a vacation retreat where Mickey and his friends gathered away from their usual cartoon neighborhood, and the Farmer’s Market concept played into that homespun fairground atmosphere. Surrounded by Donald’s Boat, Goofy’s barnstorming stunt plane coaster, Mickey’s Country House, Minnie’s Country House, and the Judge’s Tent character-greeting area, the stand felt less like a conventional Magic Kingdom food counter and more like a small piece of Toontown’s cheerful, temporary-festival world.

Historically, Toontown Farmer’s Market is tied to the final identity of a land that changed names and purposes several times. The area began as Mickey’s Birthdayland in 1988, became Mickey’s Starland in 1990, and reopened as Mickey’s Toontown Fair in 1996 as part of Walt Disney World’s 25th-anniversary era. The snack location appears to have evolved through related names, including Farmer’s Market and Toontown Market, before operating as Toontown Farmer’s Market in the 2000s.

Its menu focus made it somewhat distinctive inside Magic Kingdom. While many snack stops were built around sweets, popcorn, ice cream, or heavier quick-service food, Toontown Farmer’s Market was remembered as a place for fruit and healthier grab-and-go items. That made it useful for families with young children, especially in a land designed around meet-and-greets, playground-style exploration, and shorter attractions rather than long sit-down meals.

The location disappeared with the rest of Mickey’s Toontown Fair, which closed permanently on February 11, 2011, to make way for the New Fantasyland expansion and what became Storybook Circus. Today, Toontown Farmer’s Market is a minor but telling piece of extinct Magic Kingdom history. It represents the kind of small, land-specific support venue that helped Toontown feel complete: not a headliner, but a useful, themed stop that served the everyday rhythm of a family’s visit.
