Cool Ship was a small but memorable Tomorrowland snack and misting location at Magic Kingdom, positioned near Space Mountain in one of the park’s busiest walkways. It was not a restaurant in the traditional sense, and it was never a headline venue, but it had the kind of visual identity that made it stick in guests’ memories: a crashed or landed spacecraft perched above a refreshment stand, surrounded by the playful sci-fi clutter of 1990s Tomorrowland.

The location fit directly into the New Tomorrowland era, when Magic Kingdom’s future-themed land was reimagined as a retro-futuristic city full of cosmic businesses, interplanetary travelers, industrial details, and tongue-in-cheek world-building. That version of Tomorrowland was less about predicting the real future and more about creating “the future that never was,” with places like Tomorrowland Light & Power Co., Merchant of Venus, Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies, and Cool Ship all helping sell the idea of a bustling space-age metropolis.

Cool Ship’s practical purpose was simple: quick refreshments and a cooling break. Over the years, it served snacks and drinks, with turkey legs becoming one of the items commonly associated with the kiosk. Its companion misting area, often referred to as Cool Scanner, made it especially useful on hot Florida days. Guests could pass by, cool down for a moment, grab a drink or snack, and continue toward Space Mountain, the PeopleMover, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, or later TRON Lightcycle / Run.

Its appeal was largely atmospheric. The spaceship structure, metallic detailing, and misting effect made Cool Ship feel like part of Tomorrowland’s scenery rather than a generic vending point. For many longtime visitors, it represented the slightly weird charm of the mid-1990s Tomorrowland overhaul: colorful, industrial, funny, and a little chaotic in a way that gave the land personality.

Cool Ship closed in 2025 and was dismantled as part of a refresh of that corner of Tomorrowland. Its replacement, AstroFizz, officially launched in November 2025 with a new look and a menu centered on items such as frozen slushies, Cherry Cola Churros, popcorn, glazed nuts, cotton candy, and beverages.

Today, Cool Ship is remembered as a minor but distinctive piece of Magic Kingdom history. It was never essential on a park map, but it helped define the texture of New Tomorrowland: a snack stand that doubled as a prop, a cooling station, and a small reminder that even the simplest Disney World locations can become part of a land’s larger story.
