The food side of The Market is practical rather than destination dining. Breakfast options include items such as Mickey-shaped waffles, breakfast sandwiches, wraps, oatmeal, and coffee beverages, while later-day menus focus on casual resort fare such as sandwiches, paninis, hot dogs, snacks, desserts, bottled drinks, and refillable mugs. Its real strength is convenience: it gives Yacht Club guests a place to pick up breakfast before rope drop, a quick lunch without leaving the resort, or late-night snacks after returning from the parks. In an area surrounded by strong table-service restaurants, lounges, and EPCOT dining, The Market fills the more basic but necessary role of a fast, low-commitment resort counter.
The space has an interesting retail lineage. The location was formerly Fittings & Fairings, Clothes & Notions, the Yacht Club’s main merchandise shop, which opened with the resort on November 5, 1990. That shop carried nautical-themed merchandise and resort goods that matched the Yacht Club’s New England seaside identity. It closed on April 16, 2017, and was converted into The Market at Ale & Compass as part of a broader refresh of the resort’s dining lineup.
That 2017 transformation tied the space into the larger Ale & Compass identity, which also includes Ale & Compass Restaurant and Ale & Compass Lounge. Together, those venues shifted the resort’s food-and-beverage personality toward a coastal New England-inspired concept, with The Market serving as the most casual and functional piece of the trio.
The Market at Ale & Compass is not one of Walt Disney World’s famous restaurants, and guests rarely travel to Yacht Club specifically to eat there. Its value is more understated. It is a useful resort amenity that supports the daily rhythm of a Yacht Club stay: coffee in the morning, a quick sandwich between plans, a snack after swimming, or a souvenir on the way back to the room. For guests staying at the resort, that reliability makes it more important than its modest profile suggests.
