Located just off the lobby, it fits naturally into French Quarter’s New Orleans theme, giving the compact resort a relaxed evening lounge as well as a daytime-and-late-night beignet stop. The location is currently divided into Scat Cat’s Club – Lounge and Scat Cat’s Club – Café, each with its own personality and purpose.
The lounge side is the more atmospheric half of the concept. Disney describes it as a New Orleans-style lounge with jazz music, Southern-inspired specialty cocktails, craft beer, and appetizers. Current evening offerings include items such as Andouille Nachos, Pimento Cheese Fritters, Cajun Shrimp, Tempura Calamari and Shrimp, Barbecued Wings, and Baton Rouge Beignets, with the lounge typically operating from late afternoon into midnight hours. Live entertainment is part of the appeal, with performances currently listed on select evenings, giving the room the easygoing energy of a small resort jazz club rather than a formal restaurant.
The café side is famous for one thing above all else: Mickey-shaped beignets. These powdered-sugar pastries have become one of Port Orleans French Quarter’s signature snacks and one of the few resort-specific treats that guests will often travel for even if they are not staying there. Current café options include three- and six-piece beignet orders with dipping sauce, specialty beignets, a Mickey-shaped beignet sundae, chicory coffee, café au lait, cappuccino, espresso, and other beverages.
Scat Cat’s Club is tied to the identity of Port Orleans French Quarter itself, which opened in 1991 as a New Orleans-inspired resort with a compact layout, colorful architecture, wrought-iron balconies, jazz references, and Mardi Gras touches. The modern Scat Cat’s arrangement also reflects the resort’s dining evolution. French Quarter no longer has a traditional table-service restaurant, so Scat Cat’s helps fill the gap between the Sassagoula Floatworks food court and a full dinner reservation elsewhere.
Scat Cat’s Club is not a headline Walt Disney World dining venue, but it is one of the resort’s strongest atmospheric amenities. Its appeal lies in the combination of music, cocktails, beignets, coffee, and place-making.
