EPCOT (Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow) is the second-oldest theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort. Originally envisioned by Walt Disney as a living city of the future, today it stands as a global celebration of human achievement, technological innovation, and international culture.
Following a massive multi-year transformation, the former “Future World” has been replaced by three distinct neighborhoods, joining the iconic World Showcase to create a unified park experience:
Address: 200 Epcot Center Drive, Orlando, Florida 32821
Note: These records are compiled from official Disney announcements and verified news reports as of February 2026.
When did Epcot open?
Epcot officially opened on October 1, 1982. It celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2022 and currently stands as a 43-year-old staple of Florida tourism.
What were the originally proposed pavilions?
While 11 countries sit around the lagoon today, pavilions for Israel, Spain, and Equatorial Africa were announced at the park’s opening but never completed.
Which World Showcase pavilions are the newest?
Unlike the original nine, the Morocco Pavilion (1984) and Norway Pavilion (1988) were added several years after the park opened.
Whether you are embarking on a high-speed intergalactic mission or sampling cuisine during the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, Epcot offers a journey of discovery unlike any other theme park on Earth.
