Disney World at Christmas: How the Most Magical Place on Earth Celebrates

Walt Disney World is magical at any time of year, but the holiday season is something different entirely. Christmas trees rise over park entrances, Main Street, U.S.A. is covered in garland, EPCOT celebrates traditions from around the world, Disney’s Hollywood Studios leans into nostalgic holiday glamour, and even Disney’s Animal Kingdom finds ways to blend Christmas with the park’s focus on nature and conservation.

For 2026, Walt Disney World’s official holiday season runs from November 13, 2026 through January 6, 2027, although several major holiday offerings begin earlier. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets receives its holiday overlay beginning November 4, Disney Jollywood Nights begins November 7, and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party begins November 8.

This guide covers everything currently announced for Christmas at Walt Disney World in 2026, including party dates, EPCOT’s Festival of the Holidays, Candlelight Processional, seasonal attraction overlays, Santa locations, Disney Springs, resort decorations and more.

Last updated: October 9, 2026. Disney frequently adds entertainment schedules, menus and individual holiday offerings as the season gets closer, so this guide will continue to be updated as additional 2026 details are announced.

Magic Kingdom at Christmas

Magic Kingdom remains the centerpiece of the Walt Disney World Christmas season.

Main Street, U.S.A. is decorated with garland, wreaths and its enormous Christmas tree, while Cinderella Castle becomes the backdrop for several major seasonal entertainment offerings.

Frozen Holiday Surprise

Frozen Holiday Surprise returns in 2026, transforming Cinderella Castle with Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and more than 100 Snowgies.

The brief nighttime show culminates with Elsa magically transforming the castle into a glowing winter palace.

This is part of Magic Kingdom’s regular holiday entertainment and is not limited to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party nights.

Disney Starlight During the Holidays

One major difference for 2026 is that Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away is now part of the nighttime landscape at Magic Kingdom.

Disney currently plans to present Disney Starlight twice nightly during the holiday season on regular operating nights.

However, the parade will not be performed on evenings when Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party takes place. Party guests instead get Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade.

Jingle Cruise

The holiday version of Jungle Cruise returns again in 2026.

Jingle Cruise transforms the attraction’s queue, boats and skipper jokes with Christmas decorations, seasonal puns and an increasingly elaborate backstory involving the Jungle Navigation Company’s holiday celebrations.

Unlike several other holiday attraction overlays at Magic Kingdom, Jingle Cruise is not limited to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and can be experienced during regular park hours.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party 2026

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party returns to Magic Kingdom for 25 select nights in 2026.

The separately ticketed event runs from 7:00 PM until midnight, although party ticket holders can enter Magic Kingdom beginning at 4:00 PM without purchasing a separate daytime ticket for the park.

2026 ticket prices range from $189 to $229 per person, plus tax, depending on the event date.

2026 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Dates

  • December: 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 13, 15, 17, 18, 20 and 22

Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade

Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade remains one of the party’s biggest draws.

The parade features dancing gingerbread characters, marching toy soldiers, Disney characters in holiday costumes and Santa Claus bringing up the finale.

Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade

Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks

Minnie Mouse hosts the party’s holiday fireworks spectacular, combining Christmas music, pyrotechnics, projections and lighting across Cinderella Castle.

Disney also offers separately priced dessert-party options for guests who want reserved viewing.

Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration

Mickey Mouse and friends return to the Cinderella Castle Forecourt Stage for Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration, a live show filled with seasonal songs, dancers and Disney characters.

Santa’s Christmas Carnival

Storybook Circus becomes Santa’s Christmas Carnival during the party, creating a dedicated Christmas destination where families can meet Santa, participate in activities and encounter additional holiday friends.

2026 Holiday Attraction Overlays

Several Magic Kingdom attractions receive seasonal changes during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. The 2026 lineup includes:

Party admission also includes complimentary cookies and festive beverages at designated locations around the park.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Christmas

Disney’s Hollywood Studios has become increasingly important to Walt Disney World’s holiday season, and 2026 brings several brand-new additions.

Disney Jollywood Nights 2026–2027

Disney Jollywood Nights returns for a fourth season, and for the first time the event continues into January.

The separately ticketed event runs from 7:30 PM until 12:30 AM, with ticket holders able to enter Disney’s Hollywood Studios beginning at 5:30 PM.

Tickets range from $169 to $199 per person, plus tax. Children ages 3 through 9 receive a $10 discount, while eligible Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members can also save $10 per ticket.

Disney Jollywood Nights Dates

  • November 2026: 7, 14, 16, 21, 23 and 28
  • December 2026: 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21 and 23
  • January 2027: 3 and 5

New for Jollywood Nights in 2026

A major new addition is Checkin’ It Twice Lounge in Animation Courtyard, featuring specialty drinks, a live DJ and entertainment throughout the evening.

The Monsters, Inc. character lineup also expands, with George Sanderson and Needleman joining Mike Wazowski.

The popular Glisten! skating show returns in front of the Chinese Theater with new appearances by Donald Duck, Daisy Duck and Genie.

Returning Jollywood Nights Entertainment

Major returning offerings include:

  • Disney Holidays in Hollywood, hosted by Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy
  • What’s This? Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Sing-Along
  • Glisten!
  • Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!
  • Twilight Soirée at the Tip Top Club

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets: Obligatory Holiday Overlay

One of the biggest new Christmas additions anywhere at Walt Disney World arrives at Hollywood Studios in 2026.

From November 4, 2026 through January 6, 2027, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets becomes Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets: Obligatory Holiday Overlay.

The Electric Mayhem performs a holiday soundtrack that includes:

  • “Holiday Road” featuring Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear
  • “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” featuring Jennifer Hudson
  • “Silver Bells” featuring Cyndi Lauper
  • “Little Saint Nick” performed by The Electric Mayhem

Alien Swirling Saucers Holiday Music

Alien Swirling Saucers also gets a fresh seasonal soundtrack from November 4 through January 6.

DJ Lilypad’s holiday playlist includes new spins on familiar seasonal music designed specifically for Toy Story Land.

Sunset Seasons Greetings

Sunset Seasons Greetings returns nightly, transforming the Hollywood Tower Hotel with holiday projections.

The 2026 scenes include a Muppets gingerbread creation, Toy Story imagery, a snowy Arendelle scene and a Dickensian setting inspired by Mickey’s Christmas Carol.

Sunset Seasons Greetings at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Additional Hollywood Studios Christmas Activities

For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration again receives its seasonal finale featuring Olaf.

Toy Story Land is decorated for Christmas, with Woody, Jessie and Buzz Lightyear appearing in seasonal attire.

Minnie’s Holiday Dine returns to Hollywood & Vine, combining character dining with Christmas decorations, music and a seasonal buffet.

Walt Disney Presents also receives a seasonal installation in 2026, including holiday props and artifacts plus limited-time screenings of classic Disney shorts such as On Ice, Pluto’s Christmas Tree and The Art of Skiing.

EPCOT at Christmas

EPCOT may offer the most varied holiday experience at Walt Disney World because it combines Christmas entertainment with cultural traditions from around the world.

EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays

The 2026 EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays presented by AdventHealth runs from November 27 through December 30, 2026.

The festival is included with regular EPCOT admission.

EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays

World Showcase Holiday Storytellers

One of the things that separates EPCOT’s celebration from the rest of Walt Disney World is the lineup of storytellers sharing holiday traditions from different cultures.

The 2026 lineup includes:

  • Mexico: Las Posadas Celebration
  • Norway: A Mischievous Magical Barn Santa
  • China: Chinese Lion Dancer and Si-Zhu Trio
  • Germany: Adventskalender
  • Italy: La Befana
  • Japan: Daruma Storyteller
  • Between Morocco and France: Hanukkah Storyteller
  • France: Père Noël
  • United Kingdom: Father Christmas
  • Canada: Canadian Holiday Voyageurs

Candlelight Processional

The Candlelight Processional returns nightly during the festival at America Gardens Theatre.

The 2026 production features a 51-piece orchestra, the Voices of Liberty, a choir of more than 150 Disney Cast Members and community singers, and a rotating celebrity narrator retelling the traditional Christmas story.

Performances are currently scheduled for 4:45 PM, 6:30 PM and 8:00 PM.

The 2026 narrator lineup includes returning favorites such as Gary Sinise, Whoopi Goldberg, Neil Patrick Harris, Lauren Daigle and Henry Winkler, along with newcomers including Benjamin Bratt, Robin Roberts, Jason Kelce, Josh Groban and Lacey Chabert.

For the complete narrator schedule, dining package information and planning tips, see our complete EPCOT Candlelight Processional guide.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Holiday Music

EPCOT gets another major seasonal attraction change in 2026.

From November 25, 2026 through January 6, 2027, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will rotate through three holiday songs as guests travel through the attraction.

Santa Claus and Goofy as Santa

The Santa setup at EPCOT is different from the one described in previous versions of this guide.

Santa Claus will greet guests in CommuniCore Hall through December 24.

Meanwhile, Goofy as Santa will appear daily at The Odyssey from November 27 through December 30.

World Showcase also features several culturally specific Santa traditions through its holiday storytellers, including Père Noël, Father Christmas and Norway’s Barn Santa.

Olaf’s Holiday Tradition Expedition

Olaf’s Holiday Tradition Expedition returns as EPCOT’s seasonal scavenger hunt.

Guests purchase a map and stickers, then search around World Showcase for the holiday traditions Olaf has collected along the way. Completed maps can be redeemed for a holiday keepsake.

Holiday Cookie Stroll

The Holiday Cookie Stroll also returns during the Festival of the Holidays.

Guests purchase designated cookies at Holiday Kitchens and participating EPCOT locations and collect stamps in their Festival Passport. After completing the required stops, the passport can be redeemed for a complimentary specialty treat.

The specific 2026 cookie lineup is still subject to change.

Living with the Land – Glimmering Greenhouses

Living with the Land once again becomes Glimmering Greenhouses during the holiday season.

The attraction’s working greenhouses are illuminated with colorful Christmas lights, decorations and seasonal agricultural displays, making the normally peaceful boat ride particularly impressive after dark.

JOYFUL! A Celebration of the Season

JOYFUL! A Celebration of the Season returns with gospel, R&B and holiday music celebrating Christmas and Kwanzaa.

Scentsy’s Festive Fragrances

Scentsy’s Festive Fragrances returns for its third year with a collection of scented snow globes inspired by holiday traditions around the world, including celebrations such as Noche Buena and Diwali.

Disney Springs at Christmas

Disney Springs remains one of the easiest places to experience Disney Christmas atmosphere without buying a theme park ticket.

Disney Springs Christmas Tree Stroll

The Disney Springs Christmas Tree Stroll presented by AdventHealth returns in 2026 with elaborately themed trees spread throughout the shopping and dining district.

Disney has confirmed that the Toy Story tree will return, alongside trees inspired by additional Disney, Pixar and Star Wars stories.

As of October 9, Disney has not yet published the final number of trees for the 2026 stroll, so I would not carry forward previous years’ tree counts as though they are confirmed for this season.

Disney Springs Christmas Tree Stroll

Snowfall in Town Center

Nightly artificial snowfall returns to Town Center, giving Disney Springs its own little slice of winter despite the Central Florida temperatures.

Meet Santa at Disney Springs

Santa Claus will once again meet guests at Disney Springs through December 24.

Specific daily times and the most current meeting location should be checked in My Disney Experience during your visit.

Jock Lindsey’s Holiday Bar

Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar receives its seasonal transformation with over-the-top Christmas decorations and a limited-time menu of holiday food and drinks.

New Hallmark Holiday Pop-Up

New for 2026 is a limited-time Hallmark holiday pop-up shop at Disney Springs.

The store features Hallmark greeting cards, collectible ornaments, Disney gifts and merchandise connected with the holiday movie Holiday Ever After: A Disney World Wish Come True.

Live Holiday Entertainment

Disney Springs also features roaming entertainment and a rotating lineup of regional and local bands at the AdventHealth Waterside Stage on select nights.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Christmas

Disney’s Animal Kingdom takes a very different approach to the holidays, using handcrafted decorations, wildlife imagery and entertainment inspired by nature.

Merry Menagerie

The Merry Menagerie returns to Discovery Island with life-size artisan animal puppets brought to life by Disney performers.

The collection includes polar bears, penguins, reindeer, foxes and other wintry creatures that roam Discovery Island and interact directly with guests.

Merry Menagerie at Disney's Animal Kingdom

Santa’s Holiday Grove

Santa has a dedicated home at Animal Kingdom in 2026.

Santa’s Holiday Grove will be located across from Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond! near Theater in the Wild.

The pathway features intermittent snow flurries, holiday music, seasonal food and beverage offerings and, of course, the opportunity to meet Santa.

Tree of Life Awakenings Holiday Edition

The Tree of Life Awakenings Holiday Edition returns after sunset.

The projection sequences feature winter animals and holiday-inspired music and are generally presented approximately every 10 minutes until the park closes.

Mickey and Minnie in Holiday Attire

Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse greet guests together at Adventurers Outpost wearing festive expedition-inspired holiday outfits.

ECO-RHYTHMiCS

The ECO-RHYTHMiCS percussion band also gets into the season with holiday attire and festive performances centered around the group’s reduce, reuse and recycle theme.

Rob Kaz Holiday Artwork

Disney artist Rob Kaz will have original artwork displayed at Island Mercantile during the holiday season and is scheduled to greet guests there from November 1 through November 22, 2026.

Disney World Resorts at Christmas

Disney’s Resort hotels are a major part of the Christmas experience even if you are not staying at one.

Large trees, themed ornaments, garlands, music and seasonal food appear throughout the Disney Resorts Collection.

The Deluxe resorts remain particularly popular destinations for holiday resort-hopping.

Grand Floridian Gingerbread House Will Not Return in 2026

Grand Floridian gingerbread house

Unfortunately, the massive gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will once again not be built in 2026.

Disney says ongoing resort renovations and the need to maintain smooth traffic through the lobby prevent the full-size structure from being installed.

The resort will still receive elegant seasonal decorations and festive offerings, and Disney has confirmed that new miniature gingerbread displays will be featured throughout the resort.

What About the Other Disney Resort Gingerbread Displays?

Disney has not yet released its complete 2026 gingerbread display guide as of October 9.

In previous years, elaborate displays have appeared at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney’s Contemporary Resort, among others.

Until Disney publishes the final 2026 roster, however, I would consider those traditional displays likely possibilities rather than officially confirmed offerings for this year.

Fort Wilderness at Christmas

I cannot write a Christmas guide without mentioning Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

Guests staying at the campground have created their own unofficial Christmas tradition by decorating campsites, RVs and golf carts with elaborate lights, inflatables and homemade displays.

Walking or riding through Fort Wilderness in December can feel like visiting an enormous neighborhood Christmas-light display.

Holiday Sleigh Rides

Disney’s official Holiday Sleigh Rides return to Fort Wilderness in late 2026.

The 25-minute horse-drawn rides depart from the Tri-Circle-D Ranch area and cost approximately $80 per sleigh, plus tax.

A sleigh can accommodate up to four adults, or two adults and three small children.

Tips for Visiting Disney World at Christmas in 2026

Pay close attention to Magic Kingdom party nights. On Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party dates, Magic Kingdom closes early to regular daytime guests. These days can actually be excellent for lower daytime crowds, but guests without a party ticket must leave before the event begins.

If you want to see Disney Starlight, choose a non-party night. The nighttime parade does not operate on Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party evenings.

Do not wait until Christmas week if you can avoid it. The final week of December is traditionally one of Walt Disney World’s busiest periods of the year. You can experience most Christmas offerings in November or early December with more manageable crowds.

Save an evening for EPCOT. The Candlelight Processional, Glimmering Greenhouses, Spaceship Earth lighting and World Showcase decorations are especially effective after dark.

Do not overlook the resorts. Resort-hopping can provide a relaxing break from the parks, although parking at Disney Resort hotels can be restricted. Disney transportation is usually the easiest way to visit resorts where you do not have a hotel or dining reservation.

Remember that not everything starts on the same date. Walt Disney World’s official holiday season begins November 13, but Hollywood Studios attraction overlays start November 4, Jollywood Nights starts November 7, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party starts November 8, and EPCOT’s Festival of the Holidays does not begin until November 27.

Is Christmas at Walt Disney World Worth It?

Absolutely.

The holiday season changes Walt Disney World in ways that go well beyond adding a few Christmas trees.

Magic Kingdom becomes a classic American Christmas postcard. Hollywood Studios leans heavily into mid-century holiday nostalgia. EPCOT turns Christmas into a cultural festival. Animal Kingdom finds an unexpectedly beautiful connection between winter, wildlife and handcrafted art. Disney Springs becomes a giant free holiday shopping and entertainment district, while the Resort hotels provide some of the best decorations anywhere on property.

There is simply more to stop and look at.
